    WHAT HAPPENED?

Spurs boss Postecoglou has stated that Son is unlikely to feature against Palace after "feeling sore" following the 4-1 win over West Ham United last weekend. The 32-year-old was left out of the squad that beat AZ Alkmaar 1-0 on Thursday night in order to get some much-needed rest, but the time off does not seem to have had the desired effect, with Postecoglou likely to have to pick from his other attacking options at Selhurst Park.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

The South Korean winger has already been ruled out by injury earlier this season, missing their clashes with Manchester United, Ferencvaros and Brighton in early October. He did, however, return to the starting line-up against West Ham, scoring Tottenham's fourth and final goal before he was then taken off in the 70th minute looking uncomfortable.

Having missed the game against Alkmaar, Son also sat out training, and Postecoglou confirmed he didn't take part in the session on Friday either. If he does miss the Palace game, it will allow Son to rest up and be fully fit for games against Manchester City and Aston Villa in November.

    WHAT POSTECOGLOU SAID

In the build-up to the game against AZ Alkmaar, that Spurs won 1-0, Postecoglou had told reporters: "Sonny was a bit sore after the weekend, he was never going to be involved tomorrow anyway because he missed a bit (of training). So we're leaving him out tomorrow and will see how he is."

However, when asked today if there had been any improvement in Son's condition, the Tottenham boss said: "Sonny is still not feeling 100 percent. He won't train today and is unlikely for the weekend."

    DID YOU KNOW?

Son is not typically prone to injuries. In his Spurs career he has only ever played last than 30 league games in a season on one occasion – his very first campaign at the club back in 2015-16. However, 2023-24 was his lowest ever in terms of appearances in all competitions, where he played in 36 games in total, having never fallen below 40 in preceding seasons.
